MASTER P SAYS BET HONORED PRODIGY THE WRONG WAY

When Prodigy was lost, everyone was in shock. Rappers across the globe took time out to talk about his impact on the game, and BET put together a great tribute to the rapper. The BET Awards this year was filled with drama as usual. The Migos group got in altercations with both Joe Budden and Chris Brown over the weekend, and now we have drama coming from someone else. Master P didn’t think that BET handled the Prodigy tribute the right way, and like any celebrity in 2017, he took to Instagram to tell the world how he really felt.

Different Feelings

Master P didn’t seem to be all that happy about the tribute they gave Prodigy at the BET Awards this year. The emotional tribute was done by Lil’ Kim and Mobb Deep’s Havoc, but apparently that wasn’t enough to please the rapper.

The loss of Prodigy hit everyone in the rap world, and while everyone was appreciating the moment, Master P was looking for reasons to get upset.

Master P wrote on Instagram:

“The truth hurts… BET would have never changed their show for Prodigy if he was still alive!! It was a great thing acknowledging and celebrating the life of Prodigy and all of his accomplishments. But it’s a shame that none of these artists are told how great they are while they’re alive. Why can’t they get their flowers and tokens of appreciation while they’re still living? I know the truth hurts. I just have one serious question… Was Prodigy or Mobb Deep on BET’s radar last week… were they invited to the red carpet event, offered guest passes or an invite to perform at the awards show in the last 10 years? I’m willing to bet the answer is NO.”

Supporting His Daughter

He finished by saying:

“I came to support my daughter today on the BET Experience stage but I decided that my family and I will not participate in the red carpet or awards this year. I love my people and I support them but we really need to do better by each other. We lost a very talented brother, Prodigy. I send my condolences to his family. Hopefully, one day we can start appreciating talented sisters and brothers while they are still alive. I know that what I am saying may ruffle a few feathers but the truth needed to be heard.”

Neglect?

BET definitely doesn’t neglect the living legends, but we do see his point. There is so much hatred around the rap game today, and it would be nice if there was a higher level of respect and appreciation between artists.

Fans reacted pretty well to the post, and most of them agreed with the statements. While the living legends should get more recognition, it was still a very nice gesture for BET to do what they did.
